PA Sport journalist Jonathan Veal has revealed that Steve Bruce is now expected to be in charge of Newcastle for Tottenham’s trip to St James’ Park on Sunday after it was confirmed the 60-year-old will address the media today.
Newcastle’s £305million Saudi-led takeover has dominated footballing headlines over the past few days.
Amanda Staveley, who is part of the new ownership group, has promised Newcastle supporters that significant investment will be made into the squad in an effort to push the club to the top end of the table.
Steve Bruce is expected to be let go by the club, with the Magpies being linked with the likes of Antonio Conte, Frank Lampard and Steven Gerrard.
Earlier in the week, it seemed as though the Magpies could have a new man in charge before their clash against Tottenham on Sunday after Bruce’s pre-match interview was called off on Tuesday.
However, Veal has now confirmed that the experienced manager will indeed be attending the pre-match press conference later this evening.

The spirit of the Newcastle fans and players will have been lifted by the news of the takeover. It is a positive for Spurs if Bruce is in charge on Sunday as the last thing we need is for the Magpies to have a new manager bounce.
