The Telegraph’s Matt Law has played down Tottenham’s chances of securing Jean Clair-Todibo and insisted that the Lilywhites will now focus their efforts on securing Radu Dragusin.
Over the last week, several journalists, including David Ornstein (The Athletic) and Alasdair Gold (Football.London) have cast doubt about Spurs’ chance of getting a deal over for Todibo over the line, suggesting that Nice wish to hold on to the player until the end of the season.
This was also backed up by Pete O’Rourke, who claimed a few days ago that Tottenham could be priced out of a move for the Frenchman (Football Insider).
Spurs to now focus on Dragusin over Todibo
Law has now revealed that Nice are hopeful Todibo will remain at the Allianz Riviera at least until the end of the season. As a result, he said that Ange Postecoglou’s men are now expected to ‘quickly step up their interest’ in Dragusin.
He explained that even though the Romanian could sign a new contract at Genoa, that is not likely to put off Spurs, who are said to be head of AS Roma, Atalanta and AC Milan in the race for the 21-year-old.

If it is true that Tottenham have now shifted their focus to Dragusin, one would expect the Lilywhites to get the deal over the line fairly swiftly, given the modest asking price of £26m being reported in the Italian press.
