Journalist provides update on Tottenham’s interest in Mauricio Pochettino

Contrary to reports that have emerged recently, Italian journalist Rudy Galetti has said on his website that Mauricio Pochettino remains at the top of Tottenham’s wishlist to replace Antonio Conte.

Over the last few days, multiple outlets have played down the possibility of Pochettino completing a fairytale return to Spurs.

The Daily Star claimed a couple of days ago that Tottenham had informed the Argentine that he is not in consideration for the role, with Julian Nagelsmann, Arne Slot, Thomas Frank and Vincent Kompany said to head the club’s wishlist.

The Athletic claimed on Wednesday that while Pochettino would be open to returning to N17, Spurs have not initiated any contact with their former boss.

However, Galetti has now suggested that the 51-year-old remains high on the list of Tottenham’s priorities.

The journalist claims that Pochettino’s return to Spurs is being complicated by the fact that the Argentine wants to wait for the developments at Real Madrid, with Carlo Ancelotti’s future now in doubt.

There has thus reportedly been a ‘stalemate’ in the contacts between Spurs and Pochettino, with the Lilywhites now said to be looking at other candidates for the role.

Spurs Web Opinion

It is clear that we would not be hiring Pochettino if Paratici is still at the club in the summer.

However, should the Italian’s ban not be overturned later this month and he resigns from his position at Spurs, I feel there is a fairly good chance that Levy will be on the phone to Pochettino regarding a potential return.
