Journalist provides update on Tottenham’s race to sign Lucas Bergvall on deadline day

The Sun’s Tom Barclay has revealed that the expectation at Tottenham Hotspur is that Lucas Bergvall will sign for Barcelona on transfer deadline day, although the Lilywhites have not completely given up hope of landing the teenager.

The race for Bergvall’s signature between Barcelona and Tottenham has heated up over the last few days, with various outlets revealing that the player now has a choice to make between the La Liga side and the Premier League club after visiting London and Catalonia (Expressen).

According to Mundo Deportivo‘s recent update, in an effort to try to convince the midfielder to arrive at North London, the Lilywhites have promised him that he would go straight into Ange Postecolgou’s first-team.

However, Fabrizio Romano explained last night even though that Spurs are continuing to reach out to the player’s camp in an effort to hijack the deal, Barca are confident of winning the race for the 17-year-old.

Tottenham expect to fall short in Lucas Bergvall race

Barclay has now taken to social media to state that the expectation at Hotspur Way at the moment is that Bergvall will opt to move to Camp Nou on deadline day.

However, the journalist made it clear that Spurs have not stopped trying and are still waiting in the wings in the event the teenager changes his mind.

It sounds like barring a massive twist in the final hours of the window, Bergvall is likely to end up at Barca, with Tottenham looking unlikely to get any midfielder through the door before the deadline.
