Journalist provides update on Willian future amidst Spurs and Arsenal links

Italian transfer expert, Fabrizio Romano has taken to social media to reveal that Willian has rejected Chelsea’s latest contract offer.

Reports have claimed that Tottenham are looking to snap up the winger on a free transfer when his contract runs out, with Jose Mourinho reportedly keen on being reunited with the man he bought to Chelsea (Mundo Deportivo).

It has also been reported that the Brazilian is on the radars of Tottenham’s North London rivals, Arsenal (Mirror) and even Barcelona (Eldesmarque).

There were suggestions last week that the 31-year-old could agree on a new deal with the Blues (Sky Sports), with Frank Lampard remaining coy over the pacy wide man’s future (Daily Mail).

Romano has now taken to social media to reveal that the former Anzhi Makhachkala man has turned down a two-year extension offered by Chelsea.

However, it what could be a blow to Tottenham’s chances of landing Willian, Romano claimed that the winger’s representatives are now in talks with Arsenal over a contract.

Spurs Web Opinion

If Willian was one of our primary targets, I suspect we would have already held talks over a potential transfer. I believe that the Brazilian could be a decent squad option for us but I will not be too displeased should Arsenal sign him. I suspect the 31-year-old’s preference would be to join Spurs if we were interested due to the Mourinho factor. However, it is unclear if he is one of our main targets this summer, as the speculation linking us with the winger has died down a bit recently.
