Journalist provides worrying update on Dele Alli in the January transfer market

Sky Sports journalist Michael Bridge has claimed there is no concrete interest in Tottenham midfielder Dele Alli at the moment.

Dele’s time at Tottenham now appears to be up, with the club thought to be desperate to offload the midfielder before the transfer deadline on Monday (Evening Standard).

It was reported on Tuesday that a whole host of Premier League clubs, including the likes of Newcastle, Brighton, Everton and Burnley were keen on snapping up the Tottenham man (Daily Mail).

According to ESPN, Newcastle could be about to turn their attention to the 25-year-old as a deal to sign Jesse Lingard on loan from Manchester United is proving to be unfeasible.

However, Bridge has now contradicted these reports, suggesting instead that Alli may remain at Spurs.

The journalist said on the Last Word on Spurs podcast (starting at 57:11) that no club has expressed a concrete interest in signing the England international as things stand.

When asked if a move to Newcastle could be on the cards for the former MK Dons man, Bridge said that Spurs are not too keen to deal with the Magpies.

Spurs Web Opinion

There is still time left until the transfer window closes and I expect multiple clubs to come forward with offers to sign Dele. One would expect Tottenham to offload the 25-year-old on loan.

I suspect he will probably end up at Newcastle or Everton as the likes of Brighton and Burnely are unlikely to be able to afford his wages.
