Journalist reports agent is trying to get rumoured Spurs target a PL move

Journalist Raphael Honigstein has revealed that the agent of rumoured Tottenham target Youssoufa Moukoko is trying to get his client a Premier League move for next summer.

Moukoko has been in exceptional form for Borussia Dortmund this season, with six goals and six assists to his name across all competitions so far, which is why it came as a surprise to many that the forward made just one substitute appearance for Germany at the World Cup (Transfermarkt).

90 min reported last month that Spurs had sent scouts to Germany to watch the 18-year-old in action this season but the report added that Antonio Conte’s men could face competition from around Europe for the Dortmund star.

Speaking to Sky Germany last week, Moukoko’s agent Patrick Williams denied reports that the forward is imminently going to sign a new contract at Westfalenstadion but admitted that he is still in dialogue with the Bundesliga club.

Honigstein has now suggested that Dortmund would be open to cashing in on the teenager in January if he does agree on a new contract.

When asked about Moukoko’s future, the journalist said on The Athletic’s Bundesliga Mailbag: “Dortmund would like to keep Moukoko but not at any cost.

“His agent is keen to get him into the Premier League for the new season, so I’m not sure whether an agreement can be reached. They are very conscious of their wage structure.

“I don’t think that Bayern are in for him. Moukoko is best playing off another striker; I don’t see him as the big No 9 that the German champions are looking for.”

As Honigstein suggests, Moukoko has a unique skill set and is at his best when playing through the middle but off another striker. So, I do not see the German international as being a natural fit to Conte’s 3-4-3 system as he cannot operate out wide and is not effective upfront on his own.
