Journalist Dean Jones has revealed that Chelsea have entered the race for Tottenham target Diogo Costa.
Over recent months, plenty of reports have indicated that this might be Hugo Lloris’ last season at Tottenham (Evening Standard). Several goalkeepers have been mooted as a potential replacement for the Frenchman, with Costa being one of those.
The 23-year-old has been in exemplary form between the sticks for Porto over the last 18 months and he shone for Portugal in their World Cup campaign.
90 min claimed last month that Costa is part of the five-man shortlist that Tottenham have drafted for their number one spot next summer.
Relevo reported two weeks ago that Manchester United are also eyeing a move for the Porto number one and suggested that super-agent Jorge Mendes has ‘informed’ the Portuguese club that he will bring a ‘very important’ offer for the goalkeeper soon.
In his column on GiveMeSport, Jones has now confirmed Tottenham’s interest in Costa but the journalist revealed that the North Londoners will have to battle their London rivals Chelsea for the goalkeeper’s signature.

Costa was extremely impressive during the World Cup, showing composure and maturity beyond his age. It is not surprising that top Premier League clubs are eyeing a move for the 23-year-old as he could potentially be the number one for more than a decade.
