Brazilian journalist Alexander has revealed that Sao Paulo have been in constant contact with Lucas Moura about a return to the club but the player’s first preference is to remain in Europe.

However, multiple reports from both Brazil and England (Daily Mail and UOL) have claimed over recent weeks that the winger is set to leave as a free agent next summer and have floated the possibility of him returning to Sao Paulo.

Alexander has now taken to social media to reveal that the Brazilian club have been in ‘constant contact’ with Moura and that the Tottenham man is able to contact the hierarchy of his boyhood club whenever he wishes.

However, it is explained that while the 30-year-old is not closing the door on a return to Brazil, he would only go back to his home country if he does not receive ‘any attractive proposals’ from Europe.

The journalist adds that Moura’s focus will be on joining a club with a ‘good sports project’, who are competitive, but if such an offer does not arrive, he will be happy to return to Sao Paulo.

Spurs Web Opinion

One would assume that most of the Brazilian outlets are getting their information from the player’s camp and Sao Paulo. It is interesting that none of these publications expect Tottenham to renew Moura’s contract. Perhaps, the winger has a gentleman’s agreement with Spurs to leave on a free transfer next summer.
