Journalist reports club have not given up on pursuit of Tottenham player

Bundesliga journalist Christian Falk has revealed that Bayern Munich continue to believe they have a chance of signing Harry Kane this summer.

There continues to be plenty of speculation linking Harry Kane with a move away from Tottenham this summer but a report from Manchester Evening News earlier his week gave Spurs fans reasons for optimism.

The publication revealed that Manchester United are operating under the assumption that Daniel Levy would refuse to sell the England captain this summer and they are thus assessing other strikers.

It was explained that the Red Devils feel it is up to the 29-year-old to agitate if he wants to make a move to Old Trafford this summer.

However, over recent days, reports from Spain have talked up the chances of Real Madrid swooping for Kane, with AS claiming on Friday that the Tottenham man is Carlo Ancelotti’s preferred option this summer.

Falk has now said that Bayern Munich can also not be ruled out of the race for the England captain’s signature.

When asked about the Bavarians’ interest in Julian Alvarez, the journalist told CaughOffside: “He’s (Alvarez) is just one candidate, of course, as there’s still hope for Harry Kane and there was contact as well. They’re also still trying to get Randal Kolo Muani.”

If Kane refuses to sign a new deal, Levy might be tempted to listen to offers from abroad.

However, it would come as a huge surprise if the 29-year-old leaves the Premier League as it is an open secret that he has his eye on breaking Alan Shearer’s goals record.
