Journalist reports ‘disgusting’ thing that happened to Kane after penalty miss

Alasdair Gold has heard through people close to Harry Kane that the England captain received some ‘disgusting’ abuse through the post after missing that penalty against France.

Kane appeared distraught after his failure to beat his Tottenham teammate Hugo Lloris from the spot for the second time in the game, which led to England crashing out of the World Cup at the quarterfinal stage.

Following the Three Lions’ elimination, the 29-year-old took to social media to state that he was proud of his teammates for the performances they delivered in Qatar and took responsibility for the team’s elimination.

Kane will be looking to put that disappointment behind him and get back to scoring goals when he takes to the field against Brentford on Boxing Day.

Gold has now revealed that the striker has not only had to deal with the disappointment of the penalty miss but also some disgusting messages through the post.

The journalist said on his YouTube channel: “He was at the match and he is starting proper training. I’ve been hearing some horror stories from people that know him.

“Some of the disgusting things he’s been sent through the post. Honestly, really disgusting things. Just because he missed a penalty, it’s incredible, it’s horrible, horrible, horrible.

“What would possess you to track down someone’s address and send something, it’s beyond me.”

There will always be some idiots who do these kinds of things, and they are not worth giving any publicity to. The overwhelming majority of sane football fans understand that anyone can miss a penalty and that no one would have been more heartbroken than Kane himself.
