Journalist reports Nagelsmann is ‘definitely interested’ in the Tottenham job

Sky Sports Germany reporter Florian Plettenberg has revealed that Julian Nagelsmann is interested in becoming Tottenham’s next head coach but would not take the job immediately.

Multiple reports over the last few days have suggested that Nagelsmann’s name has shot up to the top of Tottenham’s wishlist after the shock news of his sacking by Bayern Munich emerged last week.

The Telegraph reported a few days ago that the German was Spurs’ top target to replace Jose Mourinho back in 2021 and that the North London club are expected to make contact with him again.

The publication added that Nageslmann has a soft spot for Tottenham since Mauricio Pochettino’s time at the club and even previously owned a replica Spurs shirt.

However, Football.London’s Alasdair Gold stated over the weekend that the Lilywhites would have to move quickly to appoint the 35-year-old as he is also on Real Madrid’s wishlist to replace Carlo Ancelotti.

Plettenberg has now taken to social media to reveal that Spurs have made a ‘casual request’ for Nagelsmann, even though there have not been any ‘concrete talks’ as of yet.

The reporter added that the recently departed Bayern coach wants to take his time to make a decision regarding his next job.

Nageslmann will want to wait until the summer to see what options open up.

Even if the German was keen on taking the Spurs job, he will probably only want to take it at the end of the season so that he has a pre-season to get his ideas across to the squad.

I am convinced that Tottenham would have reached out to the 35-year-old before deciding to appoint Stellini on an interim basis until the end of the season.
