Journalist reports on-loan Tottenham man’s injury is worse than expected

TyC Sports journalist Gaston Edul has revealed that Giovani Lo Celso’s injury is worse than initially feared, and the on-loan Tottenham man could be sidelined for longer than expected.

Lo Celso, who re-joined Villarreal on loan during the summer, picked up a hamstring injury in the first half of the club’s 1-0 defeat to Athletic Bilbao on Sunday.

The injury is a matter of concern for Argentina, with the on-loan Tottenham man being a key part of Lionel Scaloni’s set-up over the past few years, despite his struggles in North London.

Edu has now taken to social media to reveal that the Albicelestes have received some ‘worrying’ news about Lo Celso’s injury.

The journalist explained that the midfielder is now expected to have further tests as his hamstring injury is worse than initially thought. Edu added that Scaloni might have to ‘change his plans’ ahead of the trip to Qatar next month.

It would be devastating for Lo Celso to miss the World Cup as it is clear how much it means for the midfielder to represent his country.

Given how important the 26-year-old has been to Argentina’s set-up over recent years, I suspect Scaloni will name him in the squad even if it turns out that the Tottenham man will not be fit for the group-stage matches.
