Journalist reports potential boost for Spurs in rumoured pursuit of Jordan Pickford

The Daily Express journalist Ryan Taylor has said that Everton could now listen to offers for Jordan Pickford, who has been linked with a move to Tottenham over recent weeks.

Of all the names that have been mooted as potential replacements for Hugo Lloris, Pickford’s has appeared the most often, with reports indicating that the England number one fits the profile of a ball-playing goalkeeper that the Lilywhites are after next summer (Daily Mail).

The Sun claimed two weeks ago that the 28-year-old’s contract talks with Everton had hit a deadlock and that both Spurs and Manchester United were willing to offer him almost double the salary that the Toffees were.

Taylor believes that the goalkeeper could soon be in the shop window. The journalist told GiveMeSport: “From what we understand, he [Gordon] agreed on a new deal, but he hasn’t signed it yet. Same with Pickford, which does maybe point towards the fact that Everton are maybe going to have to consider offers for both players.”

A move for either player this window seems unlikely but I would not be surprised if Tottenham test the waters for both Gordan and Pickford in the summer. Given the situation Everton find themselves in, neither player will be in a hurry to sign a new contract at Goodison Park.
