Journalist reports Spurs are ‘in conversation’ to sign France international

Journalist Graeme Bailey has revealed that Tottenham Hotspur have already held conversations about signing Juventus midfielder Adrien Rabiot at the end of the season.

Rabiot’s current deal at the Allianz Stadium runs out in June and the prospect of signing him on a free transfer has allegedly alerted a whole host of Premier League clubs, including Spurs.

It was reported by HITC last week that Ange Postecoglou’s men have been joined in the race for the Frenchman’s signature by Arsenal, Tottenham Hotspur, Liverpool, Newcastle United and Manchester United.

The report further suggested that all of the aforementioned clubs are being kept informed of the former Paris Saint-Germain star’s situation while Juve are still trying to convince the player to sign a new deal in Turn.

Spurs’ interest in Rabiot was also backed up a couple of days ago by Corriere dello Sport, who stated that the Lilywhites have ‘positioned their radar’ on the 28-year-old.

Tottenham are looking at free agent Rabiot

When asked about Tottenham’s rumoured interest in Rabiot, Bailey has now told The Spurs News: “From what we’re hearing, they do want another midfielder in. We expect Hojbjerg to leave in the summer if they can find someone.

“Ange quite likes Hojbjerg, from I’m told, but in terms of his salary and standing in the squad, they’re ready to move on and so is he. I think if they’ve got a chance at a real worldie central midfielder, I think they’ll pull the trigger on it, I do.

“There are a few options out there, Rabiot on a free. They are in conversations and looking around. He’s one of the best free agents on the market and has had a brilliant season for Juventus.”

Spurs Web Opinion

While there is no doubt that Tottenham will look to strengthen in the middle of the park in the summer, I would be extremely surprised if they pushed ahead with a deal for Rabiot.

Postecoglou is big on bringing the right sort of characters into the club so that the dressing room remains harmonious and the Australian might have some misgivings about the Juve star’s personality.
