Journalist reports Spurs have started a new transfer search ‘in the last few days’

Italian journalist Rudy Galetti has claimed that over the past few days, Tottenham have started searching the market for a centre-forward as the speculation over Harry Kane’s future continues.

Kane’s departure now seems increasingly likely this summer, with reports over the last 24 hours indicating that Tottenham’s majority owner, Joe Lewis, has informed Daniel Levy that the striker will have to be sold if he does not sign a new deal this summer (Daily Mail).

Unsurprisingly, Spurs have been linked with a whole host of centre-forwards over the last two weeks, with the likes of Juventus’ Dusan Vlahovic (SportMediaSet), Eintracht Frankfurt’s Randal Kolo Muani (RMC Sport) and even Brentford’s Ivan Toney (Football Transfers) being mooted as the England captain’s potential replacements.

Some more surprising names have also been suggested over recent days as targets for Spurs, including Fiorentina’s Arthur Cabral (Goal Brasil), Porto’s Mehdi Taremi (Sacha Tavolieri), and Feyenoord’s Santiago Gimenez (Futbolistas MX).

Vlahovic leads the way among Spurs’ top targets

Galetti has now asserted that Tottenham are indeed on the lookout for a new number nine, adding that Vlahovic is at the top of the club’s wishlist.

The journalist told GiveMeSport: “In the last few days, they have started to explore some possible alternatives in the event of his farewell. Vlahovic, who could leave Juventus with an offer worth around €80m (£69m), is among them.

“Bayern haven’t given up in the race for Kane and will increase the pressure soon. Tottenham are exploring some alternatives in attack to replace the English striker. Vlahovic is one of the names at the top of the list.”

Spurs Web Opinion

Vlahovic is undoubtedly the best candidate among the realistic targets (Kolo Munai is not a realistic target for Spurs) as the Serbian is an extremely very well-rounded centre-forward.

Despite his struggles under Massimiliano Allegri at Juve, he is very much capable of reviving his career at Spurs, just as Bentancur and Kulusevski have.

However, I doubt Tottenham or any other club would be willing to offer £70m for the 23-year-old.
