Journalist reports that Spurs have now ‘invited’ 44-year-old manager for talks

De Telegraaf journalist Valentijn Driessen has claimed that Tottenham are now about to have conversations with Feyenoord boss Arne Slot over their managerial hot seat.

It emerged on Thursday morning (Evening Standard) that Tottenham are set to step up their managerial search after having done their due diligence on the various contenders.

The report claimed that the North London club had already held conversations with Julian Nageslmann and Luis Enrique, and were now ready to speak to other candidates.

One of the coaches who has been most heavily linked with the Spurs hot seat recently is Slot, with ESPN claiming on Monday that the Dutchman is emerging as a serious candidate alongside Nagelsmann.

Driessen believes that the 44-year-old is set to be the next candidate that Tottenham speak to regarding replacing Antonio Conte but the journalist explained that the Feyenoord boss is far from the only candidate on the Premier League club’s wishlist.

He told Vandaag Inside (as relayed by Fr12.nl): “Slot has been invited by Tottenham for a conversation.

“He has a conversation, but the English club have this conversation with three or four managers and actually always do it that way.

“Nagelsmann, Slot and Pochettino come by and tell their story.

“Slot will have this conversation.”

One suspects that Slot would be viewed as nothing more than a fallback option for Tottenham unless he makes an exceedingly good impression in the interview.

His lack of experience in a top club (either as a player or a manager) would likely create some doubts in the minds of the Spurs hierarchy.
