Journalist reports Tottenham player’s transfer away has now collapsed

Spanish journalist Domingo Ortiz has revealed that Tottenham have pulled the plug on Bryan Gil’s loan move to Valencia.

Over the last few weeks, Gil has been heavily linked with a return to Mestalla, where he shone on loan during the second half of last season (Mundo Deportivo 23/08/22 – as relayed by SportWitness).

The 21-year-old is yet to play a single minute for Tottenham in their first five Premier League matches of the season.

Valencia boos Gennaro Gauttso disclosed this week that Spurs had informed the La Liga club they would give Gil the green light to fly to Spain to complete a loan move once they managed to secure a replacement (90 min).

However, if Ortiz’s latest update is to be believed, a return to Los Che is no longer on the cards for the winger.

The journalist took to social media to reveal that Spurs had informed Valencia that Gil will be staying in North London since they were not able to find a replacement for the 21-year-old.

However, this has been contradicted by Hector Gomez, who stated that although Spurs have informed the Spanish club that Gil’s move will be “very difficult”, they have not completely closed the door on the transfer.

The tricky part about finding a replacement for Gil for Spurs is that it would probably have had to be a loan. The last thing that Tottenham would want is to sign someone like Dan James permanently and struggle to get him off the wage bill a year or two down the line.
