Mikey Moore signs new contract with Spurs

Moore signed his first professional contract with Spurs earlier this week, which came as a big boost to the Lilywhites, with the youngster widely seen as a future first-team prospect at Hotspur Way.

It is not just at Tottenham that the 17-year-old is highly rated, with the youngster reportedly sought after by clubs across Europe, including the likes of Real Madrid and Paris Saint-Germain (Ben Jacobs).

Even though Moore shone for the Under-18s and the Under-21s last season and impressed for the senior side in the pre-season friendlies, the youngster will not be loaned out this summer, according to Barclay.

Tottenham’s plan for Mikey Moore

The journalist revealed that Ange Postecoglou wants to keep the winger at the club so that he can continue training with the first team and learn from the stars at Hotspur Way.

Barclay added that the Lilywhites’ plan is for Moore’s development pathway to follow a similar one to Phil Foden at Manchester City, with the England star promoted to the senior side at a young age instead of going out on loan.

Barclay wrote: ‘Spurs set to keep Mikey Moore at the club this season rather than loan him out. Given he’s only just turned 17, the thinking is it makes more sense to keep him close, learn from senior pros and get mins here and there – a bit like with Foden at City in those early years.’

Spurs Web Opinion

17 is too young to consider sending Moore to a lower-league club to play senior football.

The youngster will benefit immensely from continuing to train with some top players at Spurs and he might even get a few opportunities to play in the Europa League group stages.
