Journalist reveals another Tottenham player has a hamstring injury – Out for six to eight weeks

Tottenham Hotspur’s Alfie Dorrington has become the latest player to fall foul of a hamstring injury, after pulling up with the issue during Under-21 duty for Spurs last night, reports Alasdair Gold.

The number of injuries affecting Tottenham this season has been astounding, and has had a massive impact on the Lilywhites’ progress this term.

After a blistering—and unbeaten—start to the campaign, Spurs finally succumbed to defeat against Chelsea at the start of November. A huge influence on the result in that game, however, was the hamstring injury to Micky van de Ven.

Since then, we have seen Cristian Romero and Ben Davies also suffer hamstring strains, while the same issue has plagued Ryan Sessegnon since early last year.

The injury crisis is calming, somewhat, for Spurs of late, with the likes of James Maddison returning to action recently.

Alfie Dorrington pulls up with a hamstring strain

However, we can now add a new name to the Tottenham injury list, as youngster Alfie Dorrington could be facing an extended spell on the sidelines with a new issue.

Alasdair Gold shared the details in a tweet, reading: “Another hamstring injury for Spurs’ list this season as Alfie Dorrington pulled up last night for the U21s. Understand he should hopefully be going for a scan today.

“Didn’t look good when it happened, similar reaction to Micky van de Ven after suddenly stopping during a sprint.”

Gold has since revealed that Dorrington will be out for six to eight weeks with the injury.

The 18-year-old has featured among the substitutes bench for the Spurs senior side this season for the last ten matches (Transfermarkt), but it may be a while before we see Dorrington named in the matchday squad again now.

This is a real shame, as Dorrington was so close to getting a chance in the first team and gaining some minutes, and this will likely set him back for the rest of the season now. If his timeline to recovery is the same as van de Ven, it could be the back end of March before he’s even ready to train again.
