Journalist reveals ‘big clue’ that Ivan Toney could be heading to Spurs

Journalist Steve Kay has pointed out that Ivan Toney has changed his representation to CAA Base, which might be a big hint that he is about to complete a move to Tottenham Hotspur.

There has been a lot of speculation linking Toney with a move to Tottenham over the last few months, with a number of outlets suggesting that the Brentford star is the Lilywhites’ top striker target.

This includes an update from Football Transfers last week, which claimed that Spurs’ path towards the England international had now been cleared as Man Utd, Arsenal and Chelsea had cooled their interest in the player.

The outlet added that the race for the 27-year-old’s signature looks set to be between Spurs and West Ham, with Tottenham allegedly readying an offer of around £40m for the striker.

Kay also believes that an offer from Tottenham for Toney is imminent, revealing that they are extremely keen on securing the England international’s services.

When asked about Spurs’ rumoured pursuit of the 27-year-old, he told KS1TV (as relayed by TBR Football): “Yeah at this moment in time, I’ve been told that Tottenham are readying a bid for him.

“He changed his agency to CAA Base before his ban which is basically Tottenham’s agency. There is a good sort of clue there that Tottenham would be a good destination for him.

“They are really interested in him, they like him a lot. You hear some strange stories about where they have met agents and where they’ve met Jonathan Barnett. Daniel and Jonathan Barnett are very good friends.”

CAA Base are a big agency and Tottenham are not the only club that they have good connections with.

I do not think Toney signing with them is proof that a move to the North London club is imminent for the striker.
