Journalist reveals club denied they held talks with Paratici over possible deal

Italian journalist and presenter, Paolo Bargiggia, has revealed that Napoli denied holding talks with Fabio Paratici over a possible Lorenzo Insigne in the summer.

Bargiggia explained on 1 Station Radio there were rumours flying around that Insigne’s agent aired a proposal from Spurs, however, that has been refuted by Napoli. He also suggested that the deal didn’t seem feasible due to Tottenham’s wage structure.

Journalist, Ciro Venerato reported in the summer that he had talked with Paratici directly, who told him Insigne would not be transferring to the Premier League.

RAI journalist, Paolo Paganini revealed in the summer that Tottenham had actually made a bid to Napoli for the experienced winger.

CalcioMercato also reported recently that there is no contract renewal agreement on the table for Napoli and Lorenzo Insigne, meaning he could leave for free next summer.

Bargiggia said: “There are some rumours that Vincenzo Pisacane (Insigne’s agent) has aired a proposal from Tottenham to the Napoli owner, but from verifications made, the club claims there were never contacts between Paratici and Cristiano Giuntoli on the issue.

“The timing seems to me as quite a stretch. It doesn’t seem to me to be a feasible negotiation, because the English club don’t have high salaries”.

Spurs Web Opinion:

Insigne on a free transfer would be an incredible piece of business for Tottenham but it just wouldn’t be allowed to happen. A bigger club with bigger wages and bigger signing on fees will come in and snap him up for nothing before Spurs even get a sniff.
