Journalist reveals club has received ‘proposal from England’ for reported Spurs target

Italian journalist Enrico Camelio has revealed Roma have received an offer from an English club for Nicolo Zaniolo, who is said to be on Tottenham’s radar this summer (CalcioMercato).

Zaniolo has endured a mixed campaign for Roma this term, while his contract with the club is due to expire in the summer of 2024 (TransferMarkt).

Spurs have previously been linked with the 22-year-old, with reports in February hinting Antonio Conte and Fabio Paratici admire the qualities of the winger (CalcioMercato).

And a move to the Premier League for Zaniolo appears to be firmly on the cards according to Camelio, who has unveiled that Roma have received transfer proposals from England.

However, the journalist also mentioned that said offers, including a ‘survey’ from Spain, have fallen well short of the club’s asking price of £41.8 million (€50m).

Camelio told CalcioMercato: £Zaniolo’s journey here in Rome is over. Today, he goes to England. Roma want to sell him, he wants to leave. The valuation is around €50m, but the offers have reached around €35m.

“Roma wants more, of course. But for Zaniolo, there was a proposal from England and a survey from Spain.”

Zaniolo has made 34 appearances in all competitions for Roma this season, after missing the entirety of last season with a cruciate ligament rupture (Transfermarkt).

An exit from Roma looks to be the case for Zaniolo, who has had his fair share of troubles over in the Italian top flight.

It is a big asking price set by the club, but they can do that given the length of his contract. And the fact they have offers already will likely mean they will be firm on their price.
