Journalist reveals Fonseca set to make big staff change at Spurs

Paulo Fonseca is set to arrive at Tottenham with brand new coaching staff, Fabrizio Romano has revealed.

Multiple reports over the last few days have indicated that Fonesca is on the verge of reaching an agreement to join Tottenham.

The Portuguese coach parted ways with Roma on the back of a disappointing seventh-place finish this campaign, with former Spurs boss Jose Mourinho replacing the 48-year-old at the helm.

One thing that did not do the Giallorossi or Fonseca any favours was the number of important players the club lost through injury over the course of the campaign.

Romano has said that that former Shakhtar boss has decided to make wholesale changes to his backroom staff on the back of those injury problems.

The journalist also reiterated that the deal to bring Fonseca to North London is close to completion and added that Fabio Paratici’s appointment will also be confirmed over the next few days.

If Fonseca is making changes to his staff for the stated reason, then that is a positive sign as it indicates that the 48-year-old has learned from his mistakes at Rome and is better for that experience.

However, one would hope that is not Tottenham who are insisting on the changes, as it was rumoured that the number of backroom staff was one of the main areas of contention the club had during their negotiations with Conte.
