Journalist reveals how Dragusin feels about his lack of starts at Tottenham

The Athletic’s Jack Pitt-Brooke has revealed that Radu Dragusin is pretty relaxed about his situation at Tottenham Hotspur and understands that he needs to bide his time to break into the starting eleven.

Given the formidable partnership that Cristian Romero and Micky van de Ven have formed this season, Dragusin was always going to have his work cut out to break into the Spurs side.

With Ange Postecoglou’s men only having one game a week at the moment, the Romanian has had to watch on patiently from the bench, coming on as a late substitute for all three of his appearances so far (Transfermarkt).

Earlier this month, Romanian outlet Pro Sport questioned whether the defender will be lacking some match sharpness heading into the Euros in the summer if he continues to struggle for game time at Tottenham.

Radu Dragusin is happy to be patient at Spurs

However, when asked about his client’s situation, Dragusin’s agent, Florian Manea told Fanatik (via Playsport) last week that it is only a matter of time before the 22-year-old gets an opportunity.

Pitt-Brooke has said on The View From The Lane podcast about the former Genoa star: “Dragusin was a fantastic player in Italy and I gather he’s pretty relaxed about the situation. He knows that Tottenham don’t have a lot of games this season to allow opportunities for different players.

“He’s coming into a new league, the two centre-backs are currently very well-established and playing well and fit and not suspended, but as soon as any of those things cease to be the case, Dragusin will come straight in and play.”

I cannot see Dragusin’s situation changing in the immediate future unless there is an injury as Romero is one of the leaders of the current Tottenham side while Van de Ven has been one of our best players this season.
