Journalist reveals how many more signings he is told Tottenham could make

Dean Jones has claimed Tottenham could make two new signings, including a ‘luxury player’, after they conclude a move for Middlesbrough wing-back Djed Spence.

Spurs have already backed Antonio Conte in the transfer market this summer, bringing in five new players before pre-season even got underway.

But a sixth acquisition could be on the horizon with the club in talks to sign 21-year-old Spence (Sky Sports) after being impressed with his displays during a loan spell with Nottingham Forest.

Spurs have long been in negotiations with Boro to sign the England U21 international but a disparity between both sides still exists regarding the transfer fee (Football.London).

Jones expects a deal for Spence to eventually come together but has been informed Spurs will not end their business there, adding two more ‘little’ signings, including a ‘luxury’ player, before the window slams shut.

He said on The Done Deal Show: “Djed Spence is on the verge, and I’m told there are possibly two more to come, only little ones probably, but maybe one of those could be a luxury player that is actually quite exciting at the back end of the window.

“They have the bulk of their business done right now, and that’s an absolutely fantastic position to be in.”

Spence looks to be on the verge of being completed which adds to the club’s depth at right wing-back – a key area that Conte wanted to be addressed.

Spurs also need to improve on other areas and judging by this little soundbite from Jones, they aren’t keen on settling with what the business they have completed already.
