Journalist reveals how much Spurs will save per week on Reguilon wages after loan

Fabrizio Romano has revealed that Atletico Madrid will cover Sergio Reguilon’s full wages during his loan season-long loan spell at the club.

Reguilon has not been training with the Tottenham first-team since reporting for pre-season earlier this summer. With just two days left until the transfer window slams shut, it looks like the Spaniard has finally sealed a move away from the North London club.

Romano reported yesterday that Reguilon would be travelling to Spain on Tuesday to complete his medical before sealing the temporary switch to the Metropolitano Stadium.

The journalist has now taken to social media to report that the Spurs star has successfully passed his medical and signed a contract with Diego Simeone’s side. Romano added that an official announcement from Atletico is expected to arrive soon.

He also revealed that the La Liga club will cover the entirety of the left-back’s £48,077 per week salary (Spotrac) and that Los Colchoneros do not have an option to make the deal permanent.

Tottenham will be hoping that Reguilon will do well at Atletico and that his stock will increase by the time next summer comes around.

The financial situation of Italian and Spanish clubs would have improved a little in a year and the North London club should have better luck in finding permanent buyers for the 25-year-old.
