Journalist reveals how much Spurs would have to pay for Morgan Gibbs-White

Journalist Pete O’Rourke has suggested that Tottenham Hotspur would not be able to land Morgan Gibbs-White on the cheap this summer.

Nottingham Forest’s financial troubles have been well documented and it has been reported by various outlets over the last month that the club would have to offload the likes of Gibbs-White before July 30 if they are to avoid further sanctions.

This information was carried recently by talkSPORT, who suggested that Spurs are keeping close tabs on the 24-year-old’s situation ahead of the summer window.

Over the last week, it has been revealed that Tottenham’s North London rivals are also keeping an eye on Gibbs-White, with the Gunners alleged to be admirers of the player (The Sun).

Forest will likely want more than £50m for Morgan Gibbs-White

O’Rourke has now named Newcastle United as another contender for the Nottingham star’s signature and he suggested that the Midlands club could demand an even bigger fee than they did for Brennan Johnson last summer.

When asked about Spurs’ pursuit of the midfielder, he told Football Insider: “It won’t just be Tottenham who will be interested in Morgan Gibbs-White if he is on the market this summer – Newcastle will also be interested. It will be a similar sort of price tag to the £50 million paid for Brennan Johnson and possibly slightly more as well.”

Spurs Web Opinion

I believe that Tottenham have identified Gibbs-White as a potential alternative for Gallagher if the deal for the Chelsea star proves out of their reach. I suspect the Lilywhites would be quietly confident of winning the race for the Blues academy graduate.
