Journalist reveals how much Tottenham want for Giovani Lo Celso this summer

Journalist Niccolo Ceccarini has claimed Tottenham want to sell Giovani Lo Celso this summer and are asking for no less than €20 million (£16.9m) for the midfielder, who has been linked with a move to Fiorentina.

The Serie A side have emerged as potential suitors to sign the Argentina international midfielder (Corrierre Fiorentino), who spent the second half of last season on loan at Villarreal.

La Nazione (18/07/22 — via Sport Witness) claimed La Viola lodged an attempt to sign Lo Celso on loan but were unsuccessful with Spurs blocking the move after being unsatisfied with the payment structure of the 26-year-old’s wages.

The same report added the situation has slowed down talks between both clubs, although transfer expert Ceccarini has since issued a fresh update.

While maintaining Fiorentina hold an interest in Lo Celso, the journalist stated Spurs are mainly interested in a permanent sale summer and have set £16.9 million as their minimum selling price.

However, he hints an opportunity for a loan switch could open up towards the latter stages of the transfer window if there has not been any movement.

He told Radio Toscana (18/07/22 via Fiorentina News and SportWitness): “It’s a name that Fiorentina likes.

“Tottenham are asking for no less than €20m (£16.9m) to date, but at the end of the transfer market a window could open for a loan with the right to buy.”

Spurs Web Opinion

Tottenham’s valuation of Lo Celso has understandably dropped after his performances since joining the club but they appear to still be having difficulties offloading him.

The wages could very well be the problem but Spurs still hold the cards in negotiations given he is still under contract for a while.
