Journalist reveals how Perisic is described behind the scenes at Spurs

Football.London’s Alasdair Gold has revealed that Ivan Perisic is described as ‘intense’ by those at Tottenham.

Perisic was the first of the seven summer signings to arrive through the door in the summer, with the Croat signing on a free transfer after his contract with Inter Milan ran out.

It was Antonio Conte who converted the 33-year-old into a left wing-back during his time at San Siro, and he has established himself as the first choice in the same role at Spurs ahead of Ryan Sessegnon since arriving.

Although Perisic has already registered four assists across all competitions (transfermarkt), we are yet to see the best of him in a Tottenham shirt as he continues to get accustomed to the Premier League and his new teammates.

Gold has now revealed that the experienced wide man’s intensity has not been lost on those behind the scenes at Spurs, with many at the club suggesting that he is a similar sort of personality to Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg.

The journalist added that the former Inter star is ‘tuned in’ and completely ‘focussed’ on his job at hand.

Gold also added that young players at Tottenham have benefited from Perisic’s mentorship, and that his winning mentality and drive to succeed shines through in everything the Croat says.

It is apparent that Conte wanted Perisic at Spurs, not only because of his qualities as a player but also due to the leadership qualities and winning mentality that he will bring to the dressing room. The 33-year-old certainly comes across as being extremely professional and a complete team man.
