Journalist reveals injured Tottenham midfielder was back in training today

Giovani Lo Celso has been spotted among the group of first-team players taking part in training at Hotspur Way today, suggesting he could be close to a return after an injury.

After spending the last two years away from the club, Giovani Lo Celso has managed to revive his Spurs career somewhat under Ange Postecoglou this term.

Lo Celso has made 12 appearances in all competitions this season, registering two goals and two assists (Transfermarkt).

However, the 27-year-old has been hindered by a number of injuries so far this season, with a hamstring issue earlier in the campaign and more recently, a muscle strain that has kept him out for just under a month so far.

It was originally reported by The Standard that Lo Celso would be back for the Brentford game at the end of last month, but that never happened, as he suffered a little setback in his recovery.

Giovani Lo Celso is back in Tottenham training

As we prepare for the game against Brighton this Saturday, it seems Lo Celso could be ready to return, along with Yves Bissouma and Heung-min Son, who are back from their international duties at AFCON and the Asian Cup.

Commenting on a clip shared by the official Tottenham Hotspur social media channels, Alasdair Gold made the observation that Lo Celso was part of the training group today, which can only be a positive sign.

Gold tweeted: “Son, Bissouma and seemingly Lo Celso all involved. Might just be the biggest squad Postecoglou has had to work with since the season began.”

Our bench is about to go from being short of any real game-changing quality, to being strong enough to almost field a second XI at this point. I’ve a feeling Lo Celso might not quite be ready for Saturday, but if he is, Postecoglou has some tough decisions to make in regards to leaving people out of the matchday squad.
