Journalist reveals Japhet Tanganga’s next loan destination from Spurs

After being recalled by Tottenham Hotspur from his nightmare spell in Germany, Japhet Tanganga now looks set to join Championship side Millwall on loan until the end of the season.

Japhet Tanganga will likely feel as though he has wasted the last six months of his career, after joining Bundesliga outfit Augsburg on loan and failing to play a single minute of competitive football.

The Spurs defender joined Augsburg in the summer while nursing an injury, which hampered his progress. However, Tanganga was passed fit two months ago, and still was unable to work his way into the starting line up in Germany.

A report from The Athletic this week confirmed Tottenham were planning to bring Tanganga back to North London, with Fabrizio Romano suggesting the club would loan him out to a club in the Championship instead.

There had been interest from Premier League side Luton Town at one point (Daily Mail), but that seems to have dissipated now.

Millwall set to sign Tanganga on loan

The latest on Tanganga’s situation comes from London News Online, who claim the 24-year-old is now on the verge of joining Millwall on loan until the end of the current campaign.

It is said the Championship outfit have “moved quickly in the last week” to secure the services of Tanganga after the news broke that he would be available.

Apparently, the defender “could link up” with the Millwall squad as early as tomorrow for a training session.

Spurs Web Opinion

Hopefully this can be a more productive move for Tanganga, and you’d have to imagine he will be a regular starter for the Lions for the remainder of the season. Sadly, I think his time at Spurs is up, and the fact he is only going to a Championship side rather than staying in the Premier League is a telling indication of where his career may be headed at this stage.
