Journalist reveals Leicester City are ‘very interested’ in Spurs-linked attacker

According to Foot Mercato journalist Santi Aouna, Leicester City have entered the race for Club Brugge sensation Charles De Ketelaere, who has been linked with a move to Spurs.

De Ketelaere impressed after breaking into the Brugge’s starting eleven last season and the youngster has hit even greater heights this campaign, with nine goals and six assists in 21 league games so far.

The versatile attacking midfielder, who can operate out wide and as a striker, is reported to be the subject of interest from Spurs and AC Milan in January.

Some sources have claimed that Brugge initially valued De Ketelaere at more than €25m (£21.3m) but their asking price is set to come down following their elimination from the Champions League.

If Aouna’s latest update is to be believed, Spurs could also face competition from Leicester for the 20-year-old, with Brendan Rodgers’ side thought to be ‘very interested’ in the Belgian international.

However, the journalist revealed that the Foxes are only planning on making an offer for De Ketelaere in the summer.

Spurs Web Opinion

One would expect Spurs to be in the market for a forward in January given the lack of options Conte has at his disposal.

A versatile forward like De Ketelaere, who can operate as a striker as well as in the two number ten roles in the 3-4-3, would likely be Conte’s preference.

However, the Italian might be looking for a more readymade option rather than a young player with potential like the Belgian.
