Journalist reveals move for new signing has been ‘widely approved’ by Spurs hierarchy

Daily Express journalist Ryan Taylor has revealed that the Tottenham hierarchy have ‘widely approved’ a deal for Djed Spence and the North London club are now expected to push ahead with a move for the Middlesbrough star.

Yves Bissouma became Tottenham’s third capture of the summer today, with the midfielder signing a contract that runs until 2026 (Tottenham).

Football Insider revealed earlier this week that Spurs are confident of wrapping up a deal for Spence once they finalise the signing of the Brighton midfielder.

The report claimed that the North London club held further talks about the right-back with Middlesbrough on Tuesday night and are now confident of securing a breakthrough in the negotiations.

However, Fabrizio Romano revealed on Thursday that despite speaking to Spence’s agents, Spurs have not launched an official offer for the 21-year-old yet.

If Taylor’s latest update is to be believed, Antonio Conte’s men view the Boro star as the perfect fit and it is only a matter of time before they make a bid.

The journalist said on his YouTube channel: “Yeah, I do expect Tottenham now to make a bid for Spence, I know I sound like a broken record on that front, but It really is a deal that has been widely approved by the hierarchy at Tottenham.

“Spence is young, he’s English, he ticks that home-grown quota box, he also plays at right-wing-back, which is of huge benefit for Conte who plays that 3-4-3 system and he has huge potential.”

Spence looks likely to be the next one through the door after Bissouma. If Spurs manage to snap up the Boro star within the next week, that will leave us plenty of time to sign a left centre-back, a forward and an attacking midfielder. However, Conte will want the centre-back brought in before the start of the pre-season.
