Journalist reveals number of Spurs players have not travelled to Leicester

Football.London’s Alasdair Gold has revealed that a number of Tottenham players have not made the trip to Leicester for the club’s final game of the season.

Tottenham’s pursuit of a top-six spot suffered a serious setback on Wednesday when they lost to Aston Villa in their final home game of the season.

The North Londoners now need to beat Leicester at the King Power Stadium and hope that West Ham lose at home to Southampton to secure a sixth-place finish and a place in the Europa League.

Leicester themselves are in desperate need of three points, with the top four race still wide open and Ryan Mason’s men will certainly not have it easy this afternoon.

Gold has revealed that apart from the injured Ben Davies and Japhet Tanganga, a couple of first-team players are carrying knocks and may not have made the trip up north.

The journalist adds that Joe Rodon is expected to feature in the matchday squad this afternoon after missing out on every occasion under Mason so far.

He also states that Gareth Bale is a doubt to start and predicts that Mason might give Doherty the nod over Serge Aurier.

Spurs Web Opinion

If some reports are to be believed, a win against Leicester could be much more crucial than just qualifying for European competitions or finishing above Arsenal, with Levy still said to believe he can swoop for Rodgers if the Foxes do not qualify for the Champions League. If it is true that Rodgers is a realistic option for us, the result against Leicester could play a huge role in determining Tottenham’s trajectory over the next few years.
