Journalist reveals opinion which Bale gave Mourinho on transfer target

Duncan Castles has revealed in the latest episode of The Transfer Window Podcast that Gareth Bale has given an unequivocal endorsement of Joe Rodon to Jose Mourinho when the Spurs boss asked the 31-year-old about his international teammate.

Reports indicate that Spurs are confident of sealing a deal for the Swansea City centre-half before tomorrow’s domestic transfer deadline.

Castles revealed that Tottenham’s scouting department mentioned Rodon as a possible option to Mourinho after the club missed out on Milan Skriniar.

The Spurs boss has reportedly talked to the people he trusts on transfers about the 22-year-old to get a sense of whether he will be a good fit for what he is looking for.

Mourinho is said to want a centre-back with pace and someone who can dominate in one on one duals.

When the Portuguese coach asked Bale for his input, the recently returned superstar reportedly told him that Rodon possesses the mental and technical attributes to play for any team in the world.

Castles hinted that the Spurs boss has given the green light for the club to sign the youngster but he insisted that the deal will probably go down to the wire, with the North Londoners still not close to meeting Swansea’s £18m valuation.
