Journalist reveals Paratici spoke to midfielder’s agents in January about potential future transfer

Alasdair Gold has revealed that Fabio Paratici spoke to Weston McKennie’s representatives in January about the prospect of a future transfer.

Spurs snapped up Dejan Kulusevski and Rodrigo Bentancur from Juventus during the January transfer window and both players have hit the ground running in North London.

CalcioMercato reported recently that Paratici could raid his former club for another player this summer in the form of McKennie, with the USA international expected to leave Turin to make way for Paul Pogba, who the Bianconeri are said to be keen on a signing.

Spurs’ interest in McKennie has also been backed up by Gazzetta dello Sport journalist Giovanni Albanese, who claimed two weeks ago that the Lilywhites could launch an offer for the 23-year-old.

Gold has now revealed that Spurs’ managing director of football has spoken to McKennie’s representatives regarding a transfer, with the journalist adding that he expects Tottenham to test the waters if the midfielder becomes available this summer.

When asked if there is truth to reports linking McKennie to Spurs, Gold responded on a Q&A on Football.London: “I know Paratici spoke to McKennie’s representatives about a future move in January. If the USA international is available this summer then I would expect Spurs to test the water as he would tick a lot of boxes for the squad.”

Spurs Web Opinion

There is plenty of reasons to expect Spurs to make a move for McKennie this summer, given that both Conte (Gazzetta) and Paratici are fans of the 23-year-old.

The reason we are yet to make a move for the American could be because Conte views a left centre-back and a right wing-back as bigger priorities than a number eight.
