Journalist reveals Paulo Dybala update amidst reports Spurs are a leading contender

Italian journalist Furio Valcareggi has claimed that Tottenham target Paulo Dybala would prefer to remain in the Serie A.

Tottenham have been established as one of the leading contenders to snap up Dybala (Foot Mercato), whose contract at Juventus runs out at the end of the season (Transfermarkt).

The Lilywhites are thought to be facing competition from the likes of Atletico Madrid, Inter Milan and Barcelona for the 28-year-old (Sky Italia).

Mundo Deportivo revealed a couple of weeks ago that Dybala’s ‘first option’ would be a move to Atletico as the forward would like to play under his compatriot Diego Simeone.

Meanwhile, TuttoSport have suggested that Spurs would be willing to let the Juve star go to Inter as that could open the door for the North Londoners to snap up Lautaro Martinez.

Valcareggi has said that he expects the Nerrazuri to win the race for Dybala as the forward would prefer to continue his career in Italy.

The journalist told Calciomercato.it’s CMIT TV: “For me, he goes to Inter. From Beppe Marotta, it is an important club.

“Foreign countries are less popular because he prefers Italy for many reasons. There will be a lot of controversies but with a great offer, it is right that he goes to Inter.”

Multiple sources have now suggested that Spurs are not the favourites to land Dybala, which makes sense, particularly considering the impact Kulusevski has made while playing off the right. The likes of Inter arguably need a player of the Argentine’s profile a lot more than we do.
