Journalist reveals PL star is considered ‘untouchable’ amidst recent Spurs links

Fabrizio Romano has revealed that Leeds United have no intention of selling rumoured Tottenham target Illan Meslier.

Meslier has emerged as one of the most talented young goalkeepers in the Premier League since his move from Lorient to Elland Road three years ago.

It was reported on The Phil Hay Show this week that Tottenham were eyeing the 22-year-old as Hugo Lloris’ long-term successor. Meslier is said to be of interest to several clubs, but the Leeds star is of ‘particular interest’ to Antonio Conte’s men.

Romano has now taken to social media to reveal that Manchester United are keen on signing another goalkeeper before the transfer window closes and have identified Meslier as a target.

However, the journalist added that Leeds have shown no inclination to even negotiate with the Red Devils regarding their number one.

He added that the Elland Road hierarchy consider Meslier to be ‘untouchable’ and a key part of their project moving forward.

Spurs Web Opinion

I would love for us to make a move for Meslier when Lloris is eventually moved on but that is not a priority at the moment, given that the Spurs captain is showing no signs of decline.

Besides, with the 22-year-old having four years left to run on his contract at Elland Road (Transfermarkt), it is going to take a substantial fee to sign him. I do not see any club paying such a fee this summer.
