Journalist reveals price tag for potential Dan James deal amidst Spurs links

The Sun journalist Alan Nixon has claimed on his Patreon page (22/08/22 at 5pm) that a Tottenham bid of £20m could be enough to tempt Leeds United to part ways with Dan James.

The Athletic reported over the weekend that Spurs are expected to sign another attacker before the transfer window closes if Bryan Gil returns to Valencia on loan.

James was reported to be one of the players the North London club were eyeing with The Daily Mail stating on Monday that Antonio Conte’s men could make a surprise move for the Leeds star.

Football.London’s Alasdair Gold subsequently confirmed that the Wales international is on Tottenham’s radar but he explained that the 24-year-old is just ‘one of the many potential options’ the club are considering.

Gold revealed that Fabio Paratici is a fan of the former Manchester United winger but added that Spurs have not taken their interest beyond the point of consideration and have not held any discussions with the player’s entourage.

Nixon also reported on Tottenham’s interest in James, claiming that Leeds could allow the player to join the Lilywhites for a fee of £20m.

Spurs Web Opinion

I am not sure James would be enthusiastic at the prospect of a bit-part role at Tottenham, particularly following his struggles to get game time at Man Utd in the past. The fact that the 24-year-old does not count as homegrown, owing to his formative years at Swansea, is another reason why this transfer is unlikely.
