Journalist reveals ‘real name’ Conte has given Paratici as top striker target

Italian journalist Enrico De Lellis has said that Napoli striker Victor Osimhen is Antonio Conte’s number-one target.

Osimhen has been a revelation since his move to Naples and the striker has made a solid start to the 2022-23 campaign, with four goals and one assist in eight appearances so far this season (Transfermarkt).

Inter Live reported this week that Tottenham will try to sign Lautaro Martinez in order to convince Conte to commit his future to the club.

The report claimed that Spurs are prepared to offer the 53-year-old a transfer war chest of €200m (£175.2m) and that Conte wants to reunite with the Inter star in North London.

De Lellis has now also backed up the claim about Tottenham’s transfer budget but the journalist claimed that the Spurs boss wants to use a chunk of that to sign Osimhen.

The journalist added that the North London club could face competition from Bayern Munich and Manchester United for the Napoli star.

De Lellis told Calciomercato.it: “In addition to his (Conte’s) salary, he will have a budget of around €200m. There are rumours about Lautaro, but the real name that Conte told Paratici is Osimhen.

“The Napoli striker is also very popular with Bayern Munich and Manchester United, although the Germans closely follow Sesko as well. Their policy is to carry out operations under 100 million, consequently, Osimhen is a secondary option.

“The Nigerian is the classic Premier League footballer and it turns out to be the real goal of Tottenham. But it will be necessary to understand his will: he is demanding for the future and not only from an economic point of view.”

There is no doubt that Osimhen will be a great fit for the Premier League. However, given that Conte already has five very good attacking options for the three positions up front, I do not think it would make sense for Spurs to spend big on another centre-forward.
