Italian journalist Carlo Laudisa has claimed that Steven Bergwijn is on AC Milan’s wishlist ahead of the summer transfer window.

Bergwijn was heavily linked with a move to Ajax during the January transfer window, with reports indicating that Spurs had rejected a £15m offer from the Eredivisie giants for the winger (The Sun).

Dutch journalist Mike Verweij claimed during the final week of the transfer window that Ajax still remained locked in negotiations with Daniel Levy over a deal to snap up the Netherlands international (De Telegraaf’s football podcast via SoccerNews).

However, Ajax were unable to prise the former PSV Eindhoven man away from Spurs before the window closed.

If Erik Ten Haag’s side were to reignite their interest in Bergwijn in January, it looks as though they could have competition to contend with from AC Milan.

Lauda has now said on Carlo Pellegatti’s YouTube Channel (as relayed by Milan News) that the winger has emerged as a target for the Serie A club.

The journalist adds that Bergwijn’s versatility appeals to Stefano Pioli’s side and that Tottenham may be willing to let the player leave at a ‘favourable price’.

While reinforcements in central midfield and centre-back are likely to be priorities for Spurs in the summer, one would also expect Conte to be keen on making additions to his forward line. Out of all our forwards at the moment, Bergwijn looks like the one who is most likely to be sacrificed.
