Journalist reveals Spurs are expected to agree exit after new contacts today

Journalist Matteo Moretto has revealed there have been new contacts between Tottenham Hotspur and Villarreal today, with a full agreement over Giovani Lo Celso expected to be reached.

Lo Celso was not included in the squad that faced off against Southampton in the Premier League this weekend, and was also absent from every squad that took part in pre-season.

Lo Celso, Harry Winks, Tanguy Ndombele and Sergio Reguilon were all deemed dispensable by Antonio Conte (Daily Mail), with Spurs actively trying to move all four on (Tom Barclay vis GiveMeSport).

Villarreal considers completing a move for Lo Celso to be the priority of this summer (Fabrizio Romano). The Argentine midfielder also wants to move to Estadio de la Ceramica, having been on loan with the La Liga outfit last season (Matteo Moretto).

Tottenham and the Spanish club are in line to engage in fresh talks today to seal a deal for Lo Celso. The latter’s intention to switch to the Yellow Submarines is said to have played a major role in helping the move get to this stage.

Spurs Web Opinion:

Following Yves Bissouma’s arrival from Brighton and Hove Albion in this transfer window, we are given even more reasons to move out players who are surplus for requirements in the midfield. That is especially the case now that we have Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg, Rodrigo Bentancur and Oliver Skipp as our options.

Even Pape Matar Sarr and Harvey White could play a rotational role to help Conte manage the game time of some of his senior players. Lo Celso did impress under Emery and his national team quite well, but he has failed to replicate those displays at N17 in the past.

As such, selling Lo Celso can be considered a good decision as we would not want to keep hold of unhappy stars as it could affect the squad morale. It is now claimed that the 26-year-old is in line to return to Spain on an initial loan deal for the upcoming season should both clubs find common ground.

Villarreal will probably have an option to buy him permanently included in the agreement, although they would likely be obliged to sign him if certain achievements are met during that one-year loan spell.
