Journalist reveals Spurs are keen on striker who Arsenal saw bid rejected for

Italian journalist Lorenzo Amuso has revealed Tottenham are part of a number of clubs interested in signing Napoli striker Victor Osimhen.

Osimhen has developed into one of the most prolific forwards in Serie A since making the move to Naples in 2020 from French side Lille.

The Nigerian international produced an excellent campaign last time out after Napoli ended the season third in the table, bagging 18 goals and six assists across all competitions (Transfermarkt).

It has been previously claimed that Spurs have been tracking Osimhen and have placed him on a list of potential striker acquisitions (Football.London) to provide depth alongside England captain Harry Kane (Mirror).

Amuso believes Antonio Conte’s side, who secured Champions League football for next term, are very much in the hunt for Osimhen, who recently became the subject of a €60m (£51.3m) bid from arch-rivals Arsenal.

He told Calciomercato.it: “Conte, thanks to the Champions League qualification, has obtained great guarantees on the transfer market, so we can expect really great things from Tottenham.

“Among the names, there is Osimhen of Napoli. Tottenham is not the only club that has taken an interest. Arsenal have already presented a €60m offer, rejected by De Laurentiis.”

Osimhen would be a fine addition if Spurs were able to complete the move as he has emerged as a highly sought-after forward.

However, Spurs would be required to shell out a big fee for him and although the forward depth would increase massively, it is hard to see the club allocating that much money in that specific area.
