Journalist reveals Spurs are not actively trying to sell player Conte admires

The Athletic’s Charlie Eccleshare has revealed that Tottenham are not actively trying to move Joe Rodon on, but would consider a sale if the right offer arrived their way.

Rodon has struggled for regular game time since joining Spurs in a deal from Championship side Swansea just two years ago.

Interest in the Wales international defender has built with Wolves and Premier League newcomers Fulham and Nottingham Forest said to be interested in a transfer (Ekrem Konur).

Talk of a move abroad has also developed with Italian journalist Gianluca Di Marzio revealing Spurs managing director Fabio Paratici met with representatives from Roma to discuss a potential loan deal.

But while the rumours regarding Rodon’s future at Spurs continue to swirl, Eccleshare has poured cold water on the 24-year-old’s situation.

He revealed that Spurs are not currently looking to offload the centre-back, whose attitude is admired by manager Antonio Conte, although the Welshman could depart if a tempting offer came in for him.

Eccleshare also suggested a loan move could be the best option for Rodon, who recently helped Wales secure their place at this year’s World Cup, and with his Spurs contract not due to expire until 2025.

Spurs Web Opinion

It has been a pretty tough spell for Rodon at Spurs since he joined in 2020 and he hasn’t really been given too much of a run out.

You feel as if we haven’t seen his true ability just yet and Conte sees something in him, but on the other side, he would be a better fit at another side in the Premier League.
