Journalist reveals Spurs are not targeting 25-year-old forward despite reports

The Atheltic’s Charlie Eccleshare has claimed that Tottenham are not targetting Manchester City striker Gabriel Jesus this summer.

Over the last few days, reports have indicated that Jesus is edging close to a move to Arsenal, with the Gunners’ negotiations with Man City for the forward said to be at a ‘very advance stage’ (Fabrizio Romano).

The Daily Mirror had previously claimed on Sunday that Antonio Conte’s men were trying to steal the Manchester City star from under the Gunners’ noses.

The report added that Antonio Conte is impressed by the Brazilian’s versatility and that Tottenham had made a move to ‘shatter’ Arsenal’s negotiations by offering Champions League football to the forward.

However, over recent days, the likes of Everton striker Richarlison (Daily Mail) and Leeds winger Raphinha (Gianluigi Longari) have been more heavily linked with the Lilywhites than the City star.

Eccleshare has now taken to social media to reveal that Spurs want to sign an attacking player before they sell Bergwijn to Ajax.

The journalist added that while one of Richarlison or Raphinha could be the player to come through the door at Tottenham, the club are not targetting Jesus.

I suspect Richarlison is our primary target and that our interest in Raphinha is a smokescreen to get Everton to soften their stance. With the Toffees also seemingly making a move for Harry Winks, one would expect the negotiations over Richarlison to progress over the coming days.
