Journalist reveals Spurs are preparing new offer for Romero with Barcelona also in talks

Tottenham Hotspur are preparing another offer for Atalanta defender Cristian Romero, according to Italian reporter Gianluigi Longari.

The report claims that Barcelona have seen one bid rejected and are now prepared to head back to the negotiating table to propose a loan deal which includes an obligation to make the switch permanent.

Tottenham on the other hand are set to increase their offer with the Serie A club in discussions with both interested parties.

Football.London previously reported that Spurs were in advanced talks with Atalanta and there was confidence that a deal could be reached.

Tuttosport also claimed that Atalanta have driven up their asking price are now seeking between £51m and £55m for the Argentine international.

While the lure of Barcelona could be a risk for Tottenham, the reality is the Catalan giants currently do not possess the financial strength to outbid the North Londoners.

Levy and Paratici need to get the deal over the line.  Jules Kounde appears to be a forgone conclusion with Chelsea interested and Joachim Andersen having completed his move to Crystal Palace.
