Journalist reveals Spurs are ‘working strongly’ to pull off big-money signing

Sport Italia journalist Gianluigi Longari has revealed that Tottenham Hotspur are ‘working strongly’ to snap up Fiorentina striker Dusan Vlahovic in the summer.

Antonio Conte is alleged to have made it clear to the Tottenham hierarchy as soon as he arrived at the club that signing Vlahovic is a priority.

However, a deal for the Serbian is unlikely to prove straightforward, with Juventus, Arsenal and Manchester City also credited with an interest in the centre-forward.

Sources have claimed Fiorentina want £77m for the 21-year-old in January while Alasdair Gold stated recently that the Viola are reluctant to let the striker leave the Artemio Franchi Stadium mid-season.

Vlahovic seemed to distance himself from a January move this week by admitting that he wants to fire Fiorentina into Europe.

Longari has now taken to social media to explain that Spurs have not given up hope of landing the striker this month but added that a January deal for the Serbian would prove ‘difficult’.

Here’s what the journalist tweeted about Tottenham’s pursuit of the Fiorentina man:

Spurs Web Opinion

It seems like a January transfer for Vlahvoic is extremely likely to materialise. I also have very little confidence that Spurs can snap up the Serbian in the summer as there would likely be a lot more contenders for his signature at the end of the season, particularly if he maintains his current run of form.
