Journalist reveals Spurs could compete for star with Nuno as manager

Valencia radio journalist, Domingo Ortiz claimed yesterday that Tottenham could be potential buyers of Goncalo Guedes this summer if Nuno Espirito Santo was hired as the club’s new manager.

At the time, it had been reported that Spurs were close to agreeing on a deal with the former Wolves manager, with Fabio Paratici flying to London to finalise a deal this week. Tottenham then officially announced Nuno as the new head coach last night.

This finally brought to an end what had been a long 70 plus day wait for Spurs fans to meet their new head coach after Jose Mourinho was sacked in April.

Goncalo Guedes, a left-winger for Valencia, has two years left on his current contract in Spain and played 34 games last season in all competitions, scoring seven and assisting seven (TransferMarkt).

Ortiz seems to believe that Nuno joining Spurs will make them contenders for the Portuguese attacker this summer.

Spurs Web Opinion:

I can’t say that I know much about Guedes but I do know that Nuno loves to bring in Portuguese players so this doesn’t seem too far fetched. I’m sure that this summer will be a mix of players Nuno would like and bargains found by Levy and Paratici.
