Journalist reveals Spurs could loan Lo Celso out without any purchase option

Relevo journalist Matteo Moretto has claimed that Villarreal could sign Giovani Lo Celso on a loan deal without any purchase option.

Over the past couple of days, reports have indicated that Lo Celso is edging closer to a Villarreal return on the back of his successful loan spell at the club last season.

TYC Sports journalist Cesar Luis Merlo revealed on Tuesday that Spurs and Villareal are in the final stages of negotiations over the midfielder, who is expected to transfer to the La Liga club on a loan deal with an option or obligation to buy.

However, Sky Sport Italia subsequently suggested that La Liga could block Unai Emery’s side from agreeing on a deal for the Tottenham man as it would breach their financial fair play regulations.

The report added that Fiorentina could thus swoop in and hijack the deal for the Argentine.

If Moretto’s latest update is to be believed, Lo Celso’s move to Villarreal is still on track to go through. However, the journalist suggested that the two clubs are negotiating a straight loan deal for the 26-year-old without an option or obligation to buy.

Spurs Web Opinion

Perhaps Villarreal have been forced to negotiate a loan deal without an option to buy due to their issues in meeting La Liga’s financial fair play rules.

If that was the case, perhaps Spurs would prefer to sell the midfielder to Fiorentina rather than the La Liga club even though the midfielder’s preference might be to return to El Madrigal.
